Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies

The Bachelor major program (120 ECTS credits) nominally runs over six semesters. The major must be combined with a minor subject (60 ECTS credits, e.g., Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, or Economics) during the first five semesters and requires two compulsory internships, which are to be completed in distinct professional fields. The program concludes with a bachelor’s thesis and a public defense.

The Bachelor programs at the IfKW provide a comprehensive overview of the fundamental theories, models, and methods of empirical communication studies in the tradition of the social sciences. The curriculum is organized along various modules and students can choose from a selection of core subjects.
The undergraduate major (and minor) commences in the winter semester; admission is restricted (numerus clausus). The application deadline usually falls on the 15th of July each year.
