How to apply at LMU | IfKW?
| STEP 1 Applying to your home university: You will first need to apply through your own higher education institution. Exchange students from partner universities: Please contact your local student advisor. A list of our Partner Universities can be found here. |
| STEP 2 Nomination: Upon approval of your application, your home university will nominate you for a semester or a full academic year at LMU. You will not be able to apply to LMU if you were not nominated; ask your home coordinator in case of any doubts. |

Enrollment | Matriculation
Prior to your arrival in Munich, you will have been sent an appointment for the matriculation at the International Office of LMU. These appointments take place one to three weeks before the semester starts. With your enrolment, you will receive your personal student ID (matriculation number). This number is vital for applying for seminars and lectures. Please make sure to pass the matriculation number on to your department's coordinator as soon as you received it.
In addition, you will be given a campus email address (first name.surname@campus.lmu.de) that allows you to log into the various systems of LMU.
As soon as you have paid the administrative charge and the basic semester ticket for public transportation you will be issued your Student ID and matriculation confirmation. How, where and when the fee is to be paid will be explained upon enrolment. After completing this step you can buy the semester ticket and an optional season top-up ticket that entitles you to unlimited travel within the MVV network (IsarCard Semester).
